Cuero y Salado Wildlife Refuge

If you're lucky the old burra will be running (a locomotive relic from plantation days,) you'll chug across a lowland plantation toward the river where you board your boat. Drifting downstream, you observe wildlife (monkeys, manatees, and exotic birds such as the boat billed heron) enjoying lunch en route. There's a stop and time for a swim where the river empties into the salty Caribbean, before the return trip and transfer to your hotel for the evening.
